四角箸(しかくばし) 
断面が 四角形(正方形)。
 ➡ 握ったときに安定しやすく、転がりにくい。昔ながらのデザインに多いです。

➡ 手になじみやすく、持ちやすいとされています。縁起が良い「五(ご)」の数として好まれることも。

➡ 現在もっとも一般的な形。角が多すぎず少なすぎず、手にフィットして滑りにくい。

 ➡ 珍しい形で、職人の技術が光る高級箸に見られます。「七」は縁起の良い数字(ラッキーセブン)とされています。

八角箸(はちかくばし)
断面が 八角形(はちかっけい)。
➡ 「八」は末広がりで縁起が良い形。高級箸や贈答用で人気があります。手に優しく、持ちやすいバランスの良い形。  

日本では「八角箸」は特にお祝いの場や贈り物に使われることが多く、**「末広がり=繁栄」**を意味します。 

 

Octagonal Chopsticks (Hakkaku-bashi) 
The cross section is octagonal (eight-sided).
➡ The number eight (hachi) symbolizes good fortune and prosperity, as it represents a shape that widens toward the end (“suehirogari”), meaning growth and expansion.
These chopsticks are popular as high-quality or gift items, often used for celebrations and special occasions.
They are well-balanced, gentle on the hands, and comfortable to hold.
